One down, one to go.  Kenny and the U.S. Border Patrol team had two goals for the 2009 season: to finish in the top ten in driver points and top twenty in car owner points.  They locked up the owner points this week at Phoenix-a first for Jay Robinson Racing in their twelve-year existence.  Kenny also gained two positions in driver points and now sits in eleventh, just 41 markers out of tenth.  The team once again used a solid pit strategy to finish on the lead lap on Saturday, and it paid off with a seventeenth-place finish, more than enough to lock up the top 20 spot in owner points-and the prize money that coems with it.

“Phoenix was a great success for Jay Robinson Racing,” says Kenny.  ‘’We were able to obtain one of our goals. which was to finish top 20 in owner points.  We locked that up over the No 10 car.  That money will be nice, coming in December.  It’s point fund money.  Jay has never received that before.  This is his highest point finish ever.  We are still trying to obtain our other goal.  Right now, I am 41 points out of tenth.  That’s a lot of points, but we have a chance to make that up.  I could tell you so many things that I wish hadn’t happened this year and if they hadn’t happener, we would easily be in the top ten-the broken coil at the first Phoenix race, the oil line at Milwaukee.  We’ll see if we can finish strong at Homestead, tenth in points is still obtainable.  I was really happy with the handling at Phoenix.  We got down one lap and Jay made a great call and we got the wave-around and got our lap back.  We finished on the lead lap in 17th place.  I really enjoyed my time there, except that I got sick-everybody has been sick lately!”

This week features the Nationwide Series season finale at Homestead Miami Speedway.
